Dr. Selina Heppell Takes the Helm of NAUFWP

Many of you have heard the news, but for those that have not: Dr. Selina Heppell, Department Head of Oregon State University’s Department of Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Sciences and a Professor of marine fisheries ecology, has been elected to the Chair position of NAUFWP effective Sep. 1 2026. The executive Board thanks all who voted and are grateful for Dr. Heppell’s willingness to serve as Chair for the next couple of years. We look forward to her experience, enthusiasm and commitment to guiding NAUFWP through these challenging times for fish and wildlife programs at colleges and universities.

Below is a greeting from the new Chair:
Thank you, Members, for your confidence in my leadership of NAUFWP! Abundant thanks to John Carroll for his extended time as President, and many well-wishes for his retirement. I look forward to working with you all and increasing our networking efforts, starting with the website and scheduling quarterly chat meetings. I hope to see a few of you at AFS this week in Columbus, where I will be actively recruiting new members. Many thanks to former President Joel Snodgrass for arranging our booth here!
